Today we interviewed Kaylee, owner of @slimypebblevintageandthrift (https://slimypebblevintage.com). She and her boyfriend Cody have built an incredible business together selling vintage and reworked clothing. Read on to learn about how they grew their business & how they use Thryft.

Can you provide a quick introduction of yourself?

My name is Kaylee Weaver and I am 22 years old, just started graduate school to get my MBA. My boyfriend Cody Taylor also more so with behind the scenes stuff for this account. He is also 22 and just graduated with his undergrad in Safety Management. He does most of the thrifting and I do the marketing, run the site, and Instagram. I LOVE doing this with him such a fun thing for us to enjoy together.

When did you start your business and why?

We started this business actually about a year ago now, our first post was September 17, 2020. Fun fact: our first pop up is September 18th, 2021. So we get to celebrate our 1 year anniversary with all of our customers!

We started this business because I was spending a ton of money on other thrift accounts and my boyfriend said why don’t we do this together. So that’s what we did.

What type of products do you sell on your website?

We sell mostly vintage clothing from the 80’s and 90’s. We just recently starting making reworks (cropped crews and tees).

How do you use Thryft, and how has Thryft helped you run and/or grow your business?

We use Thryft for pretty much every drop. We post everything to our Instagram and our website. People just go straight to the site and purchase. It has made life so much easier for both of us, all orders are in one place. I hated having to go back through DM's looking for the customer’s address and making sure I type it in correctly. This way the customer does it and I know it’s correct.

It has helped us grow our business so much because we reach more people now, I think that it was a big change for our customers and I was afraid that it wasn’t going to go well, but having loyal customers really helped a ton! I can’t wait to see how Thryft helps us grow even more.

How has scaling your business been?

Scaling our business has been a challenge. We both have full time jobs and then go home to our business. When we first started we didn’t think we would end up where we are now. I know that we aren’t that big of an account, but our customers are loyal and couldn’t thank them enough for helping us. Without our customers we would not be where we are now. I hope to one day be able to become a bigger account and hit 10K, but we are proud of how far we have come since last year.

How has your experience as a reseller been overall?

Our experience has been wonderful, most of the time. I LOVE our customers so much. There are sometimes that things can be frustrating and stuff, but overall it’s been a great time. :)

Any tips for other thrift sellers looking to start/grow their business?

My number 1 tip is to just keep trying and don’t give up. There are many times that things are slow and you feel like giving up but as a reseller you have to realize business isn’t always butterflies and rainbows, but it’s worth it in the end. Also, talking to other resellers is so nice, everyone in this community is so nice and always willing to help!
